Every Marvel project that is not homework — and the verdict on each
The tracker is deliberately not "every Marvel-branded thing ever made" — it's every movie and show that counts toward the MCU's story, plus the guests Doomsday is importing. But people keep asking about the rest, fairly: what about Venom? Blade? Ghost Rider? Do I need them? This page is the honest map of everything left off the road, with a verdict on each. The short version of every verdict: no, it's not homework. The longer versions follow.
Venom (2018), Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), Venom: The Last Dance (2024), Morbius (2022), Madame Web (2024), Kraven the Hunter (2024).
Canon status: its own separate continuity. Despite sharing Spider-Man's supporting cast on paper, these films run in their own universe — the brief Venom/MCU handshakes in credit scenes were quietly walked back rather than built on. Doomsday homework value: zero. Nothing announced for Doomsday or Secret Wars requires a single frame of these. Worth your time? The Venom trilogy is genuinely fun in a "Tom Hardy commits absurdly hard" way — watch it any time, in release order, as its own thing. Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven have their reputations, and their reputations are earned.
Into the Spider-Verse (2018), Across the Spider-Verse (2023), Beyond the Spider-Verse (TBD).
Canon status: a separate multiverse project — brilliant, but its own thing. Homework value: zero, though the multiverse ideas rhyme with where the MCU has gone. Worth your time? Unreservedly yes — two of the best superhero films ever made. They just don't belong on a Doomsday checklist, and putting them there would be padding.
Blade trilogy (1998–2004), Daredevil (2003) & Elektra (2005), Hulk (2003), The Punisher (2004) & War Zone (2008), Ghost Rider (2007, 2011), Fantastic Four (2005, 2007, 2015).
Canon status: none of it. These predate (or ignore) the shared-universe model entirely; every one of these characters has since been rebooted inside the MCU or is on the way. Homework value: zero — the MCU's Blade, whenever he finally arrives, starts fresh; the 2003 Hulk was replaced by The Incredible Hulk; the road's Fantastic Four is the Earth-828 First Steps crew. Worth your time? Blade (1998) still rules and is a legitimate piece of superhero-movie history. The rest ranges from "fascinating time capsule" to "watch a video essay about it instead."
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. seasons 2–7, Inhumans (2017), Runaways (2017–19), Cloak & Dagger (2018–19), Helstrom (2020).
Canon status: Marvel's least-resolved question, and we're not pretending otherwise. These shows were made in the "it's all connected" era, reference the movies constantly, and were then quietly orphaned when Marvel Studios took over TV. The road includes AoS season 1 as a side quest because it genuinely weaves through Phase 2 — the rest drifts progressively further from the films. Homework value: zero. If you're watching anyway: park all of it in the long stretch between Civil War and Infinity War. AoS S2–4 still track the movies loosely; Cloak & Dagger before Runaways season 3 (they crossover); Inhumans after AoS S4, with our sympathies.
Legion (2017–19), The Gifted (2017–19).
Canon status: loosely the Fox X-Men universe, which the road already covers as its own Earth. Neither connects to the films tightly enough to matter. Homework value: zero — Doomsday's X-Men imports are the film cast. Worth your time? Legion is one of the most inventive comic-book shows ever made and requires exactly none of this context. Watch it because it's great, not because it's Marvel.
MODOK (2021), Hit-Monkey (2021–24), the WHiH Newsfront shorts, assorted one-offs.
Canon status: comedy shows and marketing ephemera with no continuity weight. Homework value: zero. Worth your time? Hit-Monkey has its fans. WHiH Newsfront was viral marketing for Phase 2–3 and survives on YouTube as a curiosity.
Exactly what's on the tracker — that's the entire point of the site. Every verdict above comes down to the same principle: if it's not on the list, that's a verdict, not an oversight. The road covers the MCU's actual story plus Doomsday's invited guests (the Fox X-Men films and the Raimi/Webb Spider-Man films — both imported by name into the crossover). Everything on this page is extra credit at best, and December 18 doesn't grade extra credit.
